Sharon Doris Sumstad

Obituary

Sharon Doris Sumstad, 81, the beloved matriarch of the Sumstad/Citron/Adams clan, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 14, 2025. Born on March 16, 1944, in Santa Monica, CA, Sharon's greatest joy and achievement was her relationship with the Lord Jesus and her large, close-knit family.

As a mother of four, grandmother of ten, great-grandmother of four, and great-great-grandmother of one, Sharon was the heart of her family. Her home was the gathering place for Sunday dinners, holiday celebrations, and monthly birthday parties. Sharon had a knack for remembering every birthday, anniversary, and important date in her children's and grandchildren's lives, never failing to send a card and gift or make a call. Sharon's home was a haven of prayer and support, not just for her family, but for countless others in need of guidance and comfort.

Sharon was so diligent in serving the Lord. She was involved in many ministries throughout her life. She taught Sunday school, directed the Christmas play, led Bible studies, encouraged prisoners for Christ and was a biblical counselor for many years. Sharon would share Jesus wherever she went with whomever she met. She had the gift of evangelism, encouragement and was a prayer warrior to the end.

Sharon and her husband of 53 years, Bill, went on many adventures together in their RV. They also sailed on many cruises and took trips to Norway and England. Sharon would say one of her most memorable trips was to the Holy Land where she got to walk where Jesus walked.

Sharon is survived by her husband Bill, her children Steve, Cami, Debbie, and Jessica, and their growing families.

A celebration of Sharon's life and faith will be held July 25th at 10 AM at the Chapel of the Resurrection in Bothell, Washington. There will be a viewing prior from 8:00 - 10:00 AM.  A reception will immediately follow the Celebration of Life in the Youth Sanctuary.  A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 PM at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bellevue, Washington.

Sharon lived her life demonstrating the grace, mercy, love and faithful wisdom of her heavenly father, while mirroring the love of Jesus and living out His life-giving words. Sharon exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman in every description detailed. Life's challenges stirred up continued compassion, mentoring opportunities, and the strengthening of extended family bonds. Her presence physically and spiritually will be missed; but our memories of her Christ-led life will live on in our spirits and hearts. To God be the glory for the life we shared.
