Jeanine Marie Russell
Obituary
Jeanine
Marie Russell, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the age of 70 after a courageous
battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born
on February 19, 1956, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was raised in a Naval family and
spent her early years traveling and living across the United States, as well as
in Rota, Spain. These experiences shaped her vibrant spirit and love for life.
She
was the daughter of Joseph Wolcott Russel and Margaret (Peggy Van Hecke)
Russel. Her father served as a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy, and her
mother served as a nurse in the Army.
Jeanine
was known for her bubbly personality, her warmth, and her ability to make
others smile. She had a deep love for old movies, music, singing, and
dancing—often filling a room with laughter and joy. She maintained an amicable
relationship with her ex-husband, Raymond Russell, with whom she shared three
children, and delighted in singing along whenever he played old tunes on the
piano during their visits. She was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother who
found her greatest happiness in her family.
She
is survived by her loving children, Jason, Monique, Joseph, and Rachel; her
cherished grandchildren, Nathan, Elena, Angelo, Amaya, and Avery; and her dear
sisters, Laura, Susan, and Madeline.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret, siblings, Colleen
and David, and her beloved granddaughter, Olivia.
Her
joyful spirit, kind heart, and love for her family will be deeply missed and
forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration
of Jeanine’s life will be held in June, with details to be shared with family
and friends later.
In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanine’s memory to the
“Laurel
Cove Employee Fund”.
