Obituary

Pauline Alice Young (Olszewski)
1934 – 2025
Pauline Alice Young (Olszewski) was born on December 30, 1934, in Long Beach, CA, and passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, with her daughter Tina by her side in Tina’s home in Woodinville, WA.
Pauline graduated from St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, CA, in 1952, where she was a two-year varsity letterwoman in basketball and volleyball. After high school, she attended Long Beach City College and was an active member of the Dental Assistants Association and the Young Ladies Institute. She enjoyed a fulfilling career as a dental assistant at Dr. Albert Weil’s office in Long Beach.
A dedicated volunteer, Pauline gave many hours supporting St. Anthony High School’s athletic programs from 1973 to 1975. She had a lifelong love for travel, visiting places such as the Alaskan glaciers, the Grand Canyon, China with the UW Volleyball team, Costa Rica & Spain to visit family, and the beaches of Hawaii. She also enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, and, of course, a cold Miller Lite beer. However, her greatest joy came from supporting and experiencing her family’s and grandchildren’s athletic achievements, including the CAL Berkeley Hall of Fame, NFL Super Bowls, the Rose Bowl, UW softball and volleyball, the Seattle Mariners, and Major League Baseball.
In 1956, Pauline married Thomas Michael Young of Long Beach, CA. They were married for 30 years and were blessed with one daughter, Tina. They later separated and divorced in 1985. Pauline was a longtime resident of Long Beach before moving to Washington in 1992 to be closer to her daughter and family in Woodinville.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Tina, and her husband, Manu Tuiasosopo; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren:
• Leslie & Anthony Gabriel – Daylon, Myles, Lanea
• Marques & Lisa – Brayden, Bryce, Kylie
• Zachary & Tasha – Tyrus, Loa, Amani
• Matthew & Abi – Josiah, Haven, Malakai
• Ashley Tuiasosopo
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Peter Olszewski; her sister, Dolores; and her brothers, Robert and John Olszewski.
The family is planning a private celebration of Pauline’s life. Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum & Funeral Home in Bothell, WA. Please share your messages at https://chapel.cedarpark.org/obituaries

I’m so sorry to hear about Pauline’s passing. She was a strong and loving member of the Olszewski family. My sister, Peggy (Nyssen) Olszewski, had a great fondness for Pauline and I think Pauline helped her navigate being a new member of the Olszewski family. Ditter always had nothing but kind words for Pauline. My condolences to Tine, her family , Nicholas and his family and all that loved her. Lou Anne Bynum
