Obituary

Ruth Josephine Collingridge (Nyquist), 80, died in the Lord and entered the presence of her faithful Savior on January 10, 2021, in Everett, WA. She was the youngest daughter of Rudolph & Lydia Nyquist, a farming family in Wolverton, Minnesota. She was born on December 21, 1940.

Ruthie was a devoted wife, mother, and an accomplished musician. She used her incredible gifts to lead others in worship for decades, most notably for over 50 years with Women’s Aglow, an international ministry committed to worship, prayer, and kingdom-empowerment of disciples. She also served her local church, Sonrise Christian Center, as a Pastor of Recovery, leading many to find healing through a deeper understanding of the Lord’s love and grace.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years (Herbert III) in 2018. She is survived by her 4 children: Cheryl, JoAnn (Jeff), Herbert IV (Leslie), and Mark (Heather); 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by her older sister, Angie Kratzer, and her 3 children and their families.

There will be a small, private memorial service on the evening of February 14, 2021, at 4:00 pm, to celebrate her life and to mourn together. The service will be live-streamed through Sonrise Christian Center’s website and here (https://youtu.be/f_9O7fb4ftI) if you would like to share in this with the family.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider giving in her name and memory to a ministry that was an integral part of Ruth’s life beginning in 1967 -www.aglow.org/give.

When I first joined Aglow, I was in Awe of the worship God has imparted in you. I have never heard worship that bought me into the presence of God.

To My Worship Mother for over 20 years who loved me as her own son and made sure I had everything I needed to go forth in worship and to challenge aglow to go deeper in the things of God. And she did just that. Love You So Much.

I give glory to the almighty God for the soul of Ruth and the faithful service she rendered to God while in the physical body. Having entered eternal glory and bliss, I take this moment to pray for grace, comfort and heavenly joy for all us who are still here on earth. May the glory and the peace of Christ Jesus comfort. May the love and peace of Christ she enjoyed and wonderful spiritual prosperity be our portion to too. Fare thee well Ruth. Shalom shalom

Ruthie, you were loved by all who knew you, an by me especially. You shared your love of our Lord with all every time you played those keys. Your love flowed through your fingers and The Deaf had the gift of seeing it off my fingers. I remember thanking you for that after each and every conference. You will be greatly miss but always remembered and loved. Love and peace to your family.

I will never soon forget the anointing that was experienced in worship at the Jerusalem 2019 Holy Convocation as Ruthie led us in a FRESHNEW SONG the Holy Spirit had just given her during the conference! Her gift was profound, a PURE SOUND! I'm certain she's leading and instructing the angels and other delegates in Heaven - IN WORSHIP! We will miss you Ruthie... Thanks for ALL you've imparted.

A woman that will be tremendously missed. Love worshiping with you, Miss Ruth. You are a remarkable, approachable, loving kingdom servant with a free hearted spirit. A true Queen! And now, at this time, I know you are creating more music and worshiping with the heavenly choir. Enjoy basking and resting in the glory of our LORD JESUS my dear sister! Peace to the family!

My Beloved Friend, your music pointed me back to the Good Lord so many times. Our Meet Me At the Cross Picnic was what my city needed in a turbulent summer. The hours we spent driving around when you were on the East Coast were so joyful together in the Lord. Charleston, Jamestown, Williamsburg, Washington, Norfolk- each conference wonderful in itself yet more the memorable for time with you. Your music to God comforts me still. Your life was indeed a SpiritSong Celebration.

My first memory of Ruth was at the International conventions You have blessed so many around the world over so many years

For two decades, the highlight of my year was coming to the Aglow National and International Conferences. Ruth's ministry to the Lord was a determining factor in my becoming a worshiper and being able to live in the First and great commandment. As expertly as she led us into the Holy of Holies, she was not "religious," and she modeled a perspective of humility that was right out of Philippians 2. When she went to heaven, she did truly go Home.

Ruthie, I fell in love with your worship music in 1984 when I attended my first Aglow International conference in Anaheim, CA. Then, when I moved WA State to work at Aglow, I was doubly blessed to worship with you at Sonrise and work with you as you brought us all into the Presence of The Lord at annual conferences. You were a master at brining others into His Presence. My heart rejoices to think you are now in His Presence for all eternity. Love you and see you again, Kay
